New Years Day Skiing

by Fergus Rainbow on January 1, 2010

Just got back from Monetier, I love skiing on the Saturday – you virtually get the piste for yourself, well at least for two minutes at a time.
The light was strange, mostly sunny but still quite white, so stick to yellow goggles, even then when the sun went behind the clouds everything just disappeared. I told myself it was good for my feeling the snow experience.
For some reason they haven’t groomed some of the pistes on the right (as you look up at it) side under Bachas, so quite cruddy and empty.
Some patches were quite grainy and those little balls of ice from snow making in places, they put the wind up yer quick smart.
The forecast is similar for the next week, and who knows I might even venture over into the Villeneuve/ Chantermerle side of life next week.
