My little Rosie is well on the move now and she keeps disappearing up the stairs. There is a bit half way up where she could easily crawl through a hole and then fall on top of the wood burner in the living room. There is also a very hard tiled floor in the living room which could make a nasty mess of a falling baby. Either way a fall down the stairs isn’t going to be fun for anyone. So what do you do? The Geant haven’t got any stair gates and neither have the DIY shops. Mega Joupi have them, but Sue went in there to discover they were about 80€ and they didn’t have any in our width, so we’d have to order it.
I’m always of the opinion if something has to be ordered in France, then you may as well do it yourself, so I looked towards t’internet for answers. My research led me to the Tippitoes Extra Narrow Stair Gate. I had a look on a few French web sites, Autour de Bebe and ones like that, but there were no extra narrow ones. So I looked on Amazon.fr – but only the standard width ones were available, so I resorted to the most reliable service I know, Amazon.co.uk who have the Tippitoes Swing Shut Safety Gate Extra Narrow
for £24.99 it would have been free delivery in the UK, but with delivery to France a bit extra, bringing the total to £33.70.
So it’s a no brainer where to get it from. It makes me wonder how long shops that don’t stock anything that you want are going to last.
