This might be a gimmick, but if you feel you want to pretend it’s making a difference to the planet knock yourself out and buy one.
Temont Technologies has produced a little gizmo designed to use the energy you produce carrying out exercise such as skiing in Serre Chevalier, France’s 4th largest ski station, boasting some 300 days sunshine every year.
The nPowerPeg sits in your backpack or like in a vertical position and I’d guess something in it bounces up and down allowing kinetic energy to accumulate from all that bouncing, this can then be used to charge a phone “so that you can contact loved ones.”
That was a bit mawkish, but it is American and retails for US$149.99.
Of course you could charge your phone using the hotel’s energy, but that’s up to you.

Well that puts pay to the iw@nk app I was thinking of developing for the iPhone, seriously though…if it was $10 – I’d buy one.
Don’t worry I hear Sue’s got you one for Christmas
