The Station in Chantemerle is carrying an extensive range of beers and ales and other beverages this season. I’m not very knowledgeable on these matters – I like it like a dog’s nose, cold and wet. After that it’s all a bit technical. I get confused between a buttery base and a long finish, but I know people take their beer very seriously, and if you’re serious enough about beer The Station is worth a pint when visiting Serre Chevalier.
Anyway there are some 10 Belgian beers on the menu, they’ve got fruit, they’ve got Defendu – an amber beer with a soft and caressing ending; they’ve even got some Kwak beer, which comes with a story and a funny glass.
There’s London Pride by Fuller’s and cider and – oh a lot of booze, I can’t remember it all. I seem to have misplaced my notes, I just remember the camaraderie of the evening. Looks like I’ll have to go back, damn.

Yep – good selection of beers here and friendly staff. They also do good food – but be warned, if you have the fish and chips at lunchtime, don’t plan on skiing in the afternoon. It’s very good, but just enormous portions, as we found out last week!
Save it for the end of the day, when you can reward yourself for your controlled hurtle down Luc Alphand – get some speed up and you can ski up to the right of the gondola station and directly onto their patio. Nice.
Don’t forget to buy Gary a drink!!
