If you have any interest in Art at all, go and see the superb exhibition "Escalade Artistique" which brings together a very high standard of painting and sculpture plus some fine art textile pieces and mixed media. The show features work by professional artists with studios in the Hautes Alpes and Piedmont (Italy). A broad spectrum of subject matter, styles and techniques means that there is "something for everyone" to appreciate in this thoughtfully presented exhibition. "Escalade Artistique" is curated by the artist Anna Pancaldi and her excellent team, in the recently renovated Centre d’Art Contemporain at the Place des Armes in the City Vauban known as the old town in [tag-tec]Briancon[/tag-tec]. Look out for the huge metal sculpture of a knight on horseback outside!
Your entrance ticket (3 euros) entitles you to a very informative little catalogue (in French) and a personal guided tour by one of the team. I was interested in hearing the talk in French, but was told that English would have been possible too.
