Sorry if that’s a bit crude, but honestly what a brilliant couple of days, the missus had her thigh deep in powder down the Monatgnole and other assorted off piste runs yesterday and I have had my nicely groomed piste day today.
It is amazing.
We had a great fall Sunday into Monday and the temperature has even dropped a wee bit meaning the slush is back to cream again, what a brilliant surprise as we head into the end of the season – 10 days left.
There is quite a lot going on in Monetier today, a youth(well under 30s) oriented party tonight – they say reggae but it seemed more new wave drum and bass with some slick beats, but what do I know I’m over 40?
There is also a stand set up by Sylvan at Elixir sports hire where you can take a pair of next season’s freestyle skis up, for free – so that’s nice, these really are the phat ones innit?
I have learnt something quite sybaritic about skiing today – apparantly it’s quite normal to have two pairs of skis – how flash is that? I have been slightly bemoaning my rather nice piste Rossignols (they’re orange) on which I tend to sink into powder and slush, but it turns out I just need a second pair of more off-piste/ powder/ slush in the wardrobe.
Next time I go up I will be on a pair of Spark bright yellow ones, not certain I can say anything else about that.
So that’s something to come back to Serrechevalier.org for. However if that’s not for you I have recently discovered the difference between “English” and “French” windows – as the French see it and I will also be sharing that with you.
To spice things up a bit if you know what the French call “English windows” drop a comment and if you’re right I’ll shout you at least a pint when you next visit Serre Chevalier.
