Snow Plough Damage (The Wall Part 1)

by Rick Lomas on June 1, 2010

image1169797686.jpgThis wasn’t what I was going to write about today, but it’s all so exciting I have to tell the world about it.

Two years ago a snow plough destroyed the wall between my front garden and the road. The wall is the property of the commune so it’s down to them to fix it.

As you can see from the photo, there is a kinda dogleg profile to the wall, which is where the problems began. Once covered in snow, you can’t tell that, which is where the snow plough ‘missed’ the side of the road and wrecked the wall.

So the guys have been furiously working between 8:45 and 11:45 nearly 4 days a week putting all this shuttering in, where I assume they will pour a mixture of concrete and stones in to form the wall.

The only thing is now they want to straighten the wall out and make the road a little wider, just where my letter box is. I’ll lose a few square metres of land, but I think it’s worth it as it’ll look better and hopefully won’t get twatted by the snow plough again. More of this exciting story tommorrow.
