Just to set the record straight for any snowborders who might be all pissy because I only write skiing, it’s because I consider that word “skiing” an umbrella for activities involving sliding down a mountain in the snow. Much like hoovering covers the many other brands of vaccum cleaner available on the market. So just chillax.
No offence meant, it’s also easier to write.
So where was I? Oh yes massive ski holiday operator Crystal Ski has released its Industry Report 2010 which says some 11% fewer Brits went abroad for skiing, coming on a further 13.3% drop from 2009.
So what are you going to do about it?
Well, the report goes on, ski holiday sales are up, but there are no figures to back this up, so it might be a bit marketing-based.
Generally people in Serre Chevalier reported the same thing, awful 2008/9 but a better 2009/10, but there is a slight feeling visitors are cutting back on the friperies and keeping their spending to the necessary.
Some of the shop keepers in the valley are a bit worried as it is these extravagancies that get cut, but do what you can, dig deep it’s for a good cause, why wouldn’t you need a bar stool in cow hide or a new pair of slippers? All avaiable in Monetier, Chantemerle and Villeneuve at great prices and amazing quality.
