It’s official, the mainstream has now made it’s first reference to skiing, so we can all get a little bit ooh about the powder.
Here in Serre Chevalier central we scan the world’s media for interesting tit-bits of awesome that involve winter pursuits, a little machine suddenly judders into life spitting facts out, we then copy paste it into this site and repeat.
The Britain’s Telegraph ran it’s first related 2010/11 season story on September 1st, it was saying heart attacks account for 40% of deaths on the slopes in Austria, going on to suggest people might consider doing some form of training programme before hand.
What was a bit shocking was of these half occurred in the first two hours on the slopes, so maybe pace yourself – what a pain dying that soon into an expensive holiday, not good value at all.
Not saying Serre Chevalier is better (actually that’s not true I am) but the report also said the average altitude where a heart attack took place was 1350m – the height where you get on the lift here.
Wonder if there’ll be legislation that fatties can’t get on the lift – if so I’m in trouble.

I’m a thinish, relatively fit, oldish, bloke – and I find the difference in altitude difficult when I arrive in SC? – seems to take me a few days for my whole system to settle down.
