It’s always nice when a Hitler Youth member manages to turn his life round, put away those embarrassing daliances of youth and become a more useful member of the community.
Pope Benedict XVI is such a man. How do I know he’s changed his tune? Well he’s just said of skiing: “Skiing is practiced in a mountain environment, an environment which in a special way makes us feel small, giving back to us the right dimension of our being creatures.”
This he said when speaking to a bunch of Italian skiing instructors the other day.
I must say I’d prefer him see the sublime handiwork of God as more than “creatures” but you gots to take what you get.
Serre Chevalier is being doused with flakes “the size of pizzas”, there is a tonne of it up there – I am even thinking of starting a count down, eeh I’m that excited.

Dear Mr. Rainbow,
You should have a weekly column, in one of the UK dailys.
” A Despatch From A Disgruntled Alpine Habitee”
Kind regards,
You make me larf, every day.
@uphill gardener: Nice to hear from you Charlie, Ferg seems to have built up a bit of cult following on SerreChevalier.org – he’d be wasted on the Daily Mirror though!
