Ode to Joy

by Fergus Rainbow on February 14, 2010

Bless your hearts St Valentine in a hood

Serre Chevalier readers oh how you please us
just two humble geezers
living in the mountains
knee deep in snow

We’re rough and ready
Rick techy me wordy
so here’s a Valentine ryhme
of which you’re all worthy

The sun it is shining
the skies blue and expansive
with snow deep and gliding
Serre Che is waiting for you

The numbers are impressive
250 is pistes in kilometres
and sunny days 300 each year
is way more than spartan, perfect for your sun tan

Fly to Grenoble or Italy’s Turin
The train into Oulx is TGV speedy
but there’s Briancon overnight if you prefer sleepy
the season is unfolding, so get a move on

For weather reports
or random opinions
you’ll find it writ here
with Gail’s lovely photos too

Pray just one thing
dear special reader:
the hope you’ll never be bored
