New Year’s competition

Misty Monetier Les BainsQuite frankly this weather is getting on my nerves, not sure who I should be complaining to, as Jim Morrison said “you cannot petition the Lord with prayer,” so I guess that’s out, also it seems a bit selfish to start thinking the All Mighty should be responsible for one’s skiing holiday. Although if he was omnipotent my impotent frustration wouldn’t be an issue.

The forecast is at least for snow, punctuated with a splash of sunshine on the 2nd, but this is getting silly if not misty.

I’m not a big fan of skiing in goggles, don’t know why, it just doesn’t work for me, they steam up, I get flustered and then they start running inside, ooh I hate ‘em. I am quite liking a yellow pair of specs I got, but I’m a fair weather skier.

Le Grand Pont, Monetier Les BainsTo distract myself whilst sloping off from the pistes I have been watching some old DVDs and of course it wouldn’t be Christmas without a Bond, so I’ve done “You Only Live Twice” and “Tomorrow Never Dies”, I couldn’t bring myself to watch the ones with skiing in and it gave me great pleasure to go on at length about my Bond at the dining table. I love a Bond, I could start the day with a Bond. It’s very immature as it’s a homophone with the French for hard on, phnar as they say.

I also watched the worst film I have ever seen – and I’ve seen some duff stuff – “Disaster Movie”. Ooh it’s so bad, just awful, really pants, makes recent Woody Allen look funny again.

Mind you it took my mind off the slopes for a bit, in fact I’m still traumatized.

If you’re a fair weather skier and have a chalet with a DVD player and want to win this classic (turd), just suggest a worse film and I’ll bring it to the ski lift of your choice. It’s so bad this weather will seem balmy.

mmm – I was thinking about your hard on, Ferg…maybe we should put a parental advisory notice on this site – it may make the ratings rise (if nothing else)

The weather today was bright but -10 up at Bachas and the wind was freezing and strong enough to close L’Yret.
However the snow was fantastic especially down from Cibuit, I lacked the guts to try Cucamelle as I knew I’d have to face the slow and exposed Balme lift for the journey home, maybe tomorrow.
