A new pizza place has thrown its dough into the wood-fired oven and opened in Monetier.
Situated out the back of Le Petit Marche at the top end of the village, just off the main road the new emporium does pizzas to order and – a first for the valley I think – deliver.
The Petit Marche is a bit of a provisions shop, it does the best bread in Monetier and sells wine and that sort of stuff to go with the pizza. I haven’t tried to see if they’d bring me a bottle o’booze at the same time, but that would be peachy.
They do two sizes – 29cm and 33cm – prices from Eur8.50 to the most expensive Eur13 for “La Monetier” – creame fraiche, potatoes, lardons, emmental, onions and reblochon. That’s quite a lot of cheese, but there are 13 other styles to choose from on the menu.
I’d say a very generous application of ingredients on a thin, crisp base, a definite welcome addition to the edible existence of the village which was a bit lacking since Lulu left the Pizzeria de Neige and it seriously went downhill.
Should you wish to order from the new place they’re on: 04 92 21 43 92.
