Load of bull

by Fergus Rainbow on November 22, 2010

Skiing and snow-boarding are strenuous, especially if you’re a bit meh at it – myself included, so you have to take care of yourself, you know get electrolytes and that back into you.

The calories one wrings out from a damp pair of carving underpants at the end of a day’s skiing can be in double digits, so rehydrating and all that other science stuff is important.

There’s 250km of piste, much of it sunny, here in the southern French Alpine ski station of Serre Chevalier, and if you’re covering even a fraction you’ll need to recharge your body and mind.

But be careful, it might seem like a good idea to take an energy drink, but it can be perilous to mix such a drink with booze.

A study by the University of Texas Medical School warns users who mixed drinks with alcohol face increased heart rates and blood pressure and mental problems.

I’m a bit bored with studies like this, well der. Do this, don’t do that. Sod it.

Anyway you can’t buy Red Bull in France coz it’s banned – for health reasons, so you’ll have to truck it in.

But it is a good idea to drink after a ski, I’m fairly certain there’s a recipe somewhere on this site, if you’re bored at work why not see if you can find it?
