It’s a wind up there

by Fergus Rainbow on January 28, 2010

L'Yret through flying ice

There is a vicious wind a blowin’ today, the village is under a fresh inch of powder, all of it redistributed from roof tops. First time I’ve stepped on second hand powder this way.

Can’t see it being very fun up there. When it blows this hard Yret gets closed, Echyauda is miserable, because it is in a funnel that just pours the wind onto you. No your best bet in conditions like these is to stay under the trees or head over to Briancon, which often gets the gentler end of the blast.

The sun is lovely though, but I’m not doing much baking as it is a hooley.

For what it’s worth the weather is predicted to stay cold and blowy, with snow falls seen through the weekend.

If only, there’s something a bit schadenfreude about being glad everyone is miserable because you’re off games, so excuse my shameful glee, still it gives me time to catch up on the washing.
