So, my mate Steve in Milton Keynes persuaded me that PCs and Windows are the work of the devil and Apple Macs are the future. I bought my MacBook Pro in April and this weekend the MagSafe power adapter stopped working. Being under warranty it should be a matter of just popping into the local Apple dealer and getting it changed.
However, I am not in Milton Keynes, I am in downtown Serre Chevalier. The hours of opening are 9-12 & 14-18.30 Monday to Friday. So guess what? It’s Monday morning 9.15 and it is shut. Luckily I can still blog on my phone so I don’t feel a complete git waiting for the shop to open.

To be fair they opened up at about 9:25am. Unfortunately they weren’t able to replace my MagSafe adapter straightaway, they said probably Friday. To make up for this they have lent me their spare adapter in the meantime.
Whilst there, I got to have a play with an iPad – they’re cool:)
I used to be a Mac fan, I’ve owned five, but the last two – iMac and the one that is all built into the screen, were just rubbish, they both died after two years and it was impossible to replace the broken bit as it was integral.
So never again, they’re for fashion posers.
I’ve seen you out the car window Rick – with you’re superior air or “oh look I’ve got an iphone”
The thing is you know we’re looking and you like it.
In truth I think I’d like to go PC with Linux next, but have no idea what that means.
Bill Gates may be a devil, but he’s the devil I know now.
Linux! Guess what it’s based on Unix and what other very famous operating system is based on Unix? Indeed Mac OSX.
To be honest I just want a computer that doesn’t start slowing down as soon as you get it home. It would be quite handy if one day Steve Jobs and Bill Gates got together and made a PC that works properly.
For anybody who is still interested, this site runs on a Linux server. To get more knobheady it’s a LAMP configuration: Linux:Apache:MYSQL:PHP. So now you know!
