Little bit of politics before Rick gets rolling on the wall saga.
It’s a glorious day in sunny Serre Chevalier, so I’m going to be moving old furniture into a brocante shop I’m opening in Monetier les Bains in July. Brocante is what the locals would term antiques, but not things that come with a certificate of age, which they would call antiques.
It’s going to have loads of architectural salvage stuff, the French aren’t too keen on “old” they like clean lines and modern stuff. It was quite a battle to get the builders to keep the beams, doors and shutters from a house we had to demolish because it was unsafe – well I say house, ruin might be more accurate.
Anyway if you’re in the area pop in, we can talk shop and ski and I’ll get the kettle on.
