I just had this email from Anna-Karin, if anyone can help out please comment below…
Hey there,
we have just moved to the valley and are keen to find fun stuff to do also now during interseason. Is there an indoor climbing gym around at all? We can’t seem to find any info on it.. Of course most people are away at this time of year (we really looked forward to a month of total quiet, but truth be told we are already going a bit crazy
, but you probably know where we’d find the few people who are still around..? Also, do you have any inside tips on how to find babysitting for the winter?
Well Anna-Karin, you have probably picked the most grim time to move to Serre Chevalier, the Autumn interseason is really pretty dull I’m afraid. Indoor climbing gym? No idea, I’ve never heard of such a thing here, probably the closest we get to that is the outdoor climbing wall at Villeneuve. If any one knows any different please comment below. The best place to meet people at the moment is at The Station Bar in Chantemerle. It opens at about 4:30pm and there is live music every Friday night. Since the demise of The Extreme bar earlier this year, The Station has established itself as the ‘workers’ bar.
As far as baby sitting goes, there are usually a few people who will appear out of nowhere when the season kicks in. Our favourite ones are Isla and Jessica, you can find out about them at The Station too. If there are any other babysitters on the scene, please comment below.

Baby-sitting, usually signs up in patiseries and supermarkets. There certainly are in Monetier Sherpa and most of the shops. Usually some youth who will be known in the villages.
Official rate is Eur3.67, I found out the other day.
