If you’re not skiing today why not celebrate the life of the most visionary, accurate, prescient and downright excellent comedian who ever lived.
It was on this day in 1994 at the age of 32 that
Mr Bill Hicks died.
If you don’t know who he is you should find out as it will almost certainly make your life richer and hopefully tweak your consciousness.
He was part political commentator part social litmus paper, who cut through to the truth in a way that could only illicit laughter, albeit of a slightly uncomfortable, self analytical kind.
If you aren’t coming to Serre Chevalier take some time – even if you’re in the office and the boss isn’t looking to have a rootle around the web for some of stuff. Of particular importance the Rush Limbaugh in a bath skit and the positive drug story.
If not here is a quote or two:
“The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it, you think it’s real because that’s how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it’s very brightly coloured and it’s very loud and it’s fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question, is this real, or is this just a ride? And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, “Hey – don’t worry, don’t be afraid, ever, because, this is just a ride… And we… kill those people.”
