Live and Shite at The Grotte

Music in Serre Chevalier

There is a reasonably lively music scene in Serre Chevalier, so if any musicians would like to submit their MP3s please get in touch and we will arrange it.

Meanwhile La Grotte has released it’s own CD Live and Shite at The Grotte. It is available at the bar for 10€ or you can download it here for free.

The story so far…(from the front cover)

La Grotte du Yeti is a chain of Dutch owned bars spaced around the French Alps catering for almost exclusively Dutch clientele, playing Dutch music and having a good old fashioned Dutch time…BOLLOCKS!

La Grotte du Yeti in Serre Chevalier has changed and has now become the sort of bar that the French Alps used to be known for and should be known for.
When I first came here 15 years ago, seasonal workers came for skiing, sun and sex and didn’t give a toss about a “career” or the company motto. Bars were fun and lively and people had a good time. With the arrival of the big tour companies came common sense and the idea that life was serious and when that came, the fun went.

In 2002 we wrestled La Grotte du Yeti, Serre Chevalier away from the Dutch and opened it as a party bar for all ages with live music, good food and more importantly, an excellent atmosphere.

The last few years have been a strain on the liver but fantastic. We now have regular theme nights (but no fucking karaoke) with cheap booze, DJs and are now the only bar in Serre Chevalier both able and prepared to do this, but more importantly we enjoy it and it shows.

When interviewing staff, anyone who is career minded can sod off and our Grotte staff are all here because they love being here. If you are reading this you’ve probably seen it for yourself so you’ll know what I mean. So long as the politically correct flag waving bloody “do-gooders” don’t stop us we’ll continue to have fun and put on great shows.

So…God bless lager and thanks to you all for your support.
At this point I was advised to say that there was some charity angle to the proceeds from this album but, in all honesty, we do enough for charity and the proceeds from this album are going straight in my pocket.

Cheers! Torchy Harper 11th December 2006

Please take note:

If you see any member of bar staff anywhere please buy them a drink at once regardless of whether you think they need one or not! (particularly applicable in La Baïta!)
