This was the La Balme webcam image from midday today. I was trying to not write too much about the weather, because it’s just a bit too obvious really. So here you go, I’ll let the webcam photo speak for itself. As cool as it is (literally) to spend the winter here, I do love [...]

It’s mothers day today in the UK, so my Mum got a moonpig mothers day card with a picture of my daughters on, so she was happy!
It’s a shame she is not here today as she would probably be enjoying sitting here on the terrace of The Station watching Ash and Mary aka Stereoslaves.

The sun is now shining more often than not, which means i finally got on the hill when it was nice. Went up on Friday and it was lovely. Hardly anyone was around and higher up the snow was really nice, hard and fast. Lower down it was a little too hard but [...]

I’m a fool to myself, everytime I dawdle thinking about going up, but finding an excuse to procrastinate, the weather changes and what was glorious sunshine has gone, leaving me up there in dark sunglasses and no visibility with my orange goggles at home in their case.
Instructor extrodinaire Darren Turner sarcastically remarked to me once [...]

Monetier les Bains’ rose-tinted view of Tibet has always got on my tits, “free Tibet” flags and stickers are all over the shop and even the mayor’s office flies the “Tibetan” flag, which strikes me as just wrong, probably ill-informed and certainly not something a parochial village up a mountain (which admittedly has great skiing [...]
