There’s something about Serre Chevalier

Serre Chevalier is a strange place indeed. Geographically it is amazing; gorgeous mountains, excellent climate, good snow records and much more. But when you tell people that you are going on a ski holiday in Serre Chevalier, nobody knows where you are talking about. I’ve often heard people get it mixed up with Courcheval in Les 3 Vallées, Savoie – which is nothing like Serre Chevalier.  It’s not like that with the French though; this valley has been the winter playground for Marseillans since the 1960s and Parisians invade the valley every February by the thousands. For various reasons, Serre Chevalier has never quite had the same stardom as places like Val d’Isère, Chamonix and Megève. Even nearby resorts such as Alpe d’Huez, Les Deux Alpes and Montgenèvre seem to be more well known than Serre Chevalier. Whatever the reasons, there are advantages. Although it’s not a cheap resort, you will find prices for food, accommodation, ski passes more reasonable than many other french ski resorts.

SerreChevalier.ORG is made by a small group of people who have been visiting the valley since the 90s and have lived here since 2001. The aim here is to give you realistic information about what is going on in Serre Chevalier and how to get the most from your holiday.
