Springing out of bed

It’s 8.30am and I’m making good on my word – heading up now, just hanging around as my tea’s a bit too hot to drink.

The sun is fantastic now and whilst I am a bit of a ditherer when it comes to physical exercise I learnt something last night that has changed my outlook on spring snow.

Instructor par excellence Darren Turner at Insightski told me skiing on the soft, slushy “spring snow” is very good training for skiing on powder – the zenith of skiing in my book.

Anyway the weather is fantastic in Serre Chevalier, we are even predicted a new dump on Monday and Tuesday then back to glorious sunshine.

Went to The Station in Chantermerle yesterday, if there was a heart or even kernal to the valley atthe moment I’d say that was it, live band – The Harper’s – playing outside in the sun at the foot of the Luc Alphand piste, beer at Eur3 a pint for happy hour and a complementary barbeque – but only on Friday’s.
