Setting up for the week

0

Snowy Sunday in MonetierWell this is a new one, this is written before the event, rather than after, I tell you there is no way I’m going skiing in Serre Chevalier today, but – fingers crossed – if the forecast is correct and it was about this weekend’s conditions I will have a week of fresh stuff and sunshine commencing Monday.

It snowed from 3pm Saturday, getting heavier through the night to leave 20 cm actually settled in Monetier, this is a good sign, as it means it didn’t actually melt away and will have topped up the pistes all the way to the bottom.

Today is the last day of commune provided ski lessons to the kids, they end with a four hour medly, I think they’ll sleep well, so I’m sure I’ll hear how the conditions are and I might even get to see a piste close up, but this low cloud and white isn’t for me. I kick myself for not skiing and actually doing some work on Friday, that was gorgeous, but this chop and change weather pattern has been the mark of the season.  It does mean that visitors throughout have got View to Monetier's church from Pre Chabertfresh snow pretty much every week, but for those of us who live here it isn’t what we’re used to.

It’s become a motif to say we haven’t had five days sun in a row, but the snow is therefore in better nick, “like January” was a report I got on Friday, still if things all work out according to plan we should see a full week of great snow and sun.
