Misery in store
Well just as people were beginning to relax a teeny, tiny bit about flying, we get, shock, another “terrorist” incident to frighten us all into shuffling along in the airport, shoes in hand, eyes on the ground and cowed into sufferance by the man.
Not the best start to a ski holiday – “Papers”, “did you pack you own bag”, “do you think your government is working for you?”
Bullshit.
Just out of interest, do you know the etymology of the word government? It comes from a Latin/ Greek combination of govern (control) and mensa (mind), literally mind control, anyway I digress.
How did this guy Umar Abdul Mutallab, get on a plane? Especially considering the US “no fly list” was estimated by the ACLU to be some 1,000,000 people – in 2008.
His own father, according to CNN, had even contacted the US Embassy in Nigeria to say his son was “radicalized” and posed a threat.
He got on the plane in Amsterdam, home to the see-everything, perv-through scanners, quite a feat, let’s see if the security industry can sell us some more equipment to “protect us”.
Something else, the explosive he had PETN “a compound related to nitro-glycerin used by the military”, according to ABC news. This is high grade military stuff, you can’t make this up, so where did he get it?
Who knows, but it’s strange the timing comes just as some provisions of the Patriot Act are set to expire (Dec 31st). Golly-gee I wonder if they’ll be renewed now. Although the Yemen connection might be that new war you’ve always dreamed about.
Freedom is slavery.
